I have filed for academic access under https://developer.twitter.com/en/portal/products/academic but now it says “You’ve reached the limit for applying to the Academic Research product track.” after request having been pending for a few months. What does this mean and how do I address this?
I am a researcher at university studying politics and disinformation with no commercial interest, so I would be surprised if I was rejected? But perhaps I have missed and email or something regarding the application?
I think it just means you can only apply once, and it takes a while to process - so unless it says you’ve been denied, it’s probably still in a queue somewhere. If it takes longer than a couple of weeks i’d follow up here on the forums - i’ve seen other people have similar issues and Twitter people responded.
You will know you have Academic Access when an " Academic Research" Project is visible on your dashboard https://developer.twitter.com/en/portal/dashboard (i missed an email notification too, for me it just appeared on the dashboard after a week or two after the application or something like that)

Thanks for your thoughts Igor. I applied more than a month ago, so I am starting to wonder. How would I follow up in here? Do you think they will see it via this thread? Do er create a new thread or add tags or similar?
Did you receive any communication about the status of your application? The Academic program was opened up at the end of January. Did you have any email response to your request? It would have been sent to the email address associated with the Twitter account you applied from.
Based on the message you are describing, it sounds as though academic access may not have been approved, and it is not possible to continually re-apply.

@andypiper Perhaps the the e-mail got lost in spamfolder or something similar? Could the issue be due to a lack of response if the e-mail reaches my spam folder? Would you be able to check and perhaps resend these e-mails? This might in fact have been the issue, as I cannot see any reason for a rejection based on my reading of the application propces.

@andypiper I now added e-mails from twitter.com explicitly to be avoided in my spam-filter. I did this prior, but with the wrong e-mail apparently, so perhaps I have missed som enquiries from Twitter about this resulting in the current situation? I have not experienced this issue with e-mails from Twitter before. Is it possible to re-send information about the application proces or re-establish the proces somehow?

Dear @andypiper Is it possible for you to help me clear out this issue, potentially due to spam-filtering? I am not sure what options you have at this point, but any help in terms of resubmitting the application or simply resending the missing correspondence would be of great help. I have not had this issue with e-mails from Twitter before, but seeing as I have not received any information about the process, this must be the issue.

Dear @andypiper I have now found the issue. It seems that my Twitter account is associated with an e-mail that was terminated during the same period of time, without my knowledge. This means I was not able to receive and follow up on questions from the Twitter developers. It is very unfortunate that these two issues happened simultaneously. Is there any chance that you ca look into reestablishing contact between my application and the academic product track? I am quite sure that the issue is due to a lack of response to follow up questions, and I have read somewhere that no response after two weeks will result in termination of application. I appreciate any help on this and apologize for the inconvenience.
