I´ve been waiting for 5 hours now and the problem persists. As other users have stated, i don´t understand why validating a phone number is necessary to create an app.

If it helps, here’s my experience: I added my phone number and pretty much implemented every trick you guys suggested on this thread and it didn’t work. I contacted Twitter, told them about this thread and how many were having issues due to the phone number, and over the weekend, they were able to get back to me with the following email

Hello,

We’re aware of an issue that occurs for users who have added a phone number immediately prior to attempting to create a new key. While we work to resolve, you should be able to create a new key after waiting 5-10 minutes. Please reply to this ticket if you continue to experience the error and we will respond as soon as possible.

And now I can create an app and in fact just did. I’m really impressed sith Twitter customer service (many other firms don’t even bother to get back to you) and hope that the issue is resolved for others as well. If not, try waiting a day or two.

Lucky you. I have been waiting 5 days and still can’t get an APP created. I am really not that impressed with Twitter myself, and despite the forum manager deleting posts that says anything negative the truth has to be mentioned as well.

A BILLION dollar company that can’t fix core API access in five days is NOT impressive.

I’m still having this same issue, which I first ran into at about 8:30AM PST. Would love any work-around, as I’m trying to create an app, have added my phone number, and after about 5.5 - 6 hours, still no dice.

Perhaps you must wait a few days after doing the whole “login from mobile device” trick suggested by @UAlanbari. I myself was also quite desperate because I have an important research paper due soon so I literally tried everything I could before waiting a few days.

• if not, please go ahead and do so; and then wait before creating an app.
• if so, and this is still not working, please open a ticket using the last option at http://support.twitter.com/forms/platform (reply again to any automated response) and our team will work with you as quickly as we can to assist.

I have the same problem since friday. I added my phone number on friday afternoon and I’m still not able to create an app. A support ticket is raised since friday without an answer.

I am suffering with the same. I tried on Friday with one account and again yesterday with a different account but I continue to be asked to add a phone number. There was an announcement a couple of hours ago saying please wait up to 24hrs but this does not appear to work either.

I have raised a ticket for this as requested but as yet I’ve had no response.

Andy it is pure frustration. Have made a really powerful regional marketing engine, which is free, and SPAM free. Took 4 months. Requires for a start 40 different sets of API to make micro communities integrated in a way & allow for multiple options for community tweets.

Fine. 4 months. Now I get to the point of activating this as a beta & for the last 6 days I can’t get 20 plus, maybe 30 to get an API.

I get the difficulties, but I expected more from Twitter. So I can’t hide my disappointment that well.

It’s not personal as in staff, it’s the system that sucks. I have almost 200 sim cards on my desk. It’s not fun
