Will lists ever allow more than 500 members?

Will Twitter ever allow a list to contain more than 500 members? Since there is currently no way to hide the list of who I follow, I keep a protected list of people I ‘follow’ and poll that list via the REST API. However, I’ve currently maxed out my list at 500 and would prefer to not have to poll a second new list.

Perhaps some day but there are no announced plans to do so at this time.
