Widgets.js conflicts with direct tweeter integration

We have a use case where we are using a third party widget that is providing a twitter integration but is not utilizing the widgets.js file and are simply opening a new window with the appropriate URL for creating a tweet. Our page that includes this third party widget is also including widgets.js from twitter to provide tweeter integration. Because the third party widget is creating an anchor tag with href “https://twitter.com/intent/tweet…”, we end up with two new tweet windows, one opened by the third party widget and one opened by the widgets.js. Is there a way to prevent widgets.js from listening to some anchor tags?
