Why I can't have a custom button working with web intents?

I need to use web intents, because I need to attach the tweet event.
And I would like to build my own tweet button.
Why this is not possible?!

I would like to understand why JavaScript Interfaces for Twitter are not available for custom Tweet Buttons.

So long as you’re including widgets-js, and your button links to “http://twitter.com/intent/tweet”, events should still be passed from intent windows back to the page.

If you’re invoking the popup window yourself with window.open, events are presently not available; they depend on some scaffolding that our script puts in place.

I was following the topic “Build Your Own Tweet Button” on https://dev.twitter.com/docs/tweet-button

Their button links to “https://twitter.com/share” and they explicitly say “JavaScript Interfaces for Twitter are not available for custom Tweet Buttons”
