Why do there seem to be so few hashtags for Arabic language Tweets?

Hi

I am using Tweepy and Python to gather tweets (they must contain hashtags) from Egypt.

I am finding that I am only getting one or tweets every few seconds, yet when I change the location to the UK I get loaddsssss.

Is this a problem with Tweepy, or do Twitter limit the tweets from the Middle East or is it that Arabic users genuinely dont use hashtags???

Any hints/tips/pointers/advice much appreciated.

There are no limitations on this from the Twitter side. I’m guessing that either there’s a specific cultural difference in the use of hashtags, or just volumes are genuinely far lower.

Is there any way that I can categorically verify that volumns are geniunely lower
for whatever reason?
