Welcome Message Quick Reply options don't always show up on mobile platforms

We’ve been getting some good feedback on our bot that uses lots of welcome message id links that fast forward people to a certain state in our bot.

However about 5% or so of users are reporting that while the link does indeed take them to a DM view with us there are no options available to select.

I know this is a pretty vague report but I just wanted to get this out there. If you guys have any ideas or have heard about this let me know. I’d love to provide what I can to help debug why this is happening. It really sucks for users when it does as our bot really relies on those links to be effective.

Quick clarifying question: Are the users experiencing this irregularity using the Twitter iOS app, Twitter Android app, or Twitter web interface, or are they using a third party solution?

It’s most reported almost entirely on iOS twitter native app and the Android native app as well.

We are all set, i am not sure if there may be issues here related to versions of the app, or whether there is something more generic going on, but this gives us more to ask the relevant engineering teams about. Appreciate the extra info.

Maybe it’s a Friday thing?

We ran our Friday quiz today (found here https://twitter.com/IQtrivia)

We had dozens of people say that the welcome message link failed to ever populate the quick reply cards that we and our users rely on to answer a question properly. (We were told to use these cards to make responding back less spam prone)

It happens occasionally for a small number of people but today is was seemingly 20% of people playing the quiz.

We’ve done some more user testing on our bot and we’ve discovered something new related to this issue.

We don’t think anymore that the buttons aren’t coming up but instead it’s a bug related to how iOS handles scrolling in the DM window.

On ONLY ios (not android) if you scroll the dm window even 1 pixel all of the quick reply options DISAPPEAR.

So if your prompt is slightly too long for their phone screen size and they have to scroll up to read kiss using the quick reply buttons good bye.

Again this is only on iOS. I have to assume that people are scrolling while we send them a DM w/ quick reply options attached and it’s there so briefly they don’t notice it.
