Hi guys,

I’m a little confused as to whether or not this is allowed via the API rules. I see some apps offer this feature still. However a friend told me that twitter this week was banning third party apps from sending DM. I couldn’t see this on the @twitterapi handle. If apps are using this kind of tool would they receive a warning email ?

We published a clarification on the automation rules recently. This makes it clear that just because a user follows an account, does not indicate direct consent to receive automated messaging from that account. These kinds of tools generally do not offer any user benefit and are a bad user experience. Applications that do not adhere to the platform policies are liable to be suspended.

Thanks for clearing that up Andy. One other question if the users are offered the option to manually send a welcome email (one at a time) is this allowed?
