Website Card not appropriate for objective WEBSITE_CLICKS

#1

We are having a problem with the website cars.

We have created 16 cards for 16 tweets in one campaign. For all tweets we get this error when we add a tweet to line item/ad group

Tweet : 809747294572740608 not appropriate for objective WEBSITE_CLICKS

Tweet ID is different for all tweets.

When we check the UI interface and filter tweets base on objective we see all of the 16 tweets there. This was created on Friday 16th.

If you need some information like ad account id we can send it on the private channal.

This is the first time we have this problem and we have created a lot of website clicks campaigns in the past for our clients

Are you checking the tweets to make sure it’s the one you expect? We recently made a subtle change to scoped_timeline so I would want to confirm it’s not related to that and retrieving unexpected tweets in the scoped_timeline response.

Otherwise generally this error will appear when the tweet actually is incompatible with that objective (like it contains a link + card or some combination that triggers validation error). If you could even paste the account ID and campaign ID we might be able to look up the tweets (the account ID cannot be logged into without permission so it itself should not be sensitive info).

We have two campaigns

This are API IDs

6svlg, 6svie

Account ID is

18ce53z94oj

Campaign has 4 ad group/ Line items If you need the IDs off them let me know

Is there any news on this?

Hi,

Sorry for the delay, this fell off the radar over the holidays unfortunately.

I took a look at the tweet posted in the original post, and I think the problem is that there are two different URLs being used somehow. Our website cards should point to a single destination (it seems confusing to use two different URLs anyway, from conversion perspective)

Can you please confirm if this is what was special about those tweets / cards you were trying to use? I would be surprised if you can get those cards to be promoted in the Ads.twitter.com UI either, and it might technically be a bug that we don’t flag those while you are creating them.

Thanks,

John

Just want to close the loop here.

As @JBabichJapan mentioned, we do not allow both a website card and a website link in a single Promoted Tweet for WEBSITE_CLICKS campaigns—this is documented in our Objective-based Campaigns page. The particular Tweet you were trying to associate with the line item has both types of links—http://audi.de/DAT-Hinweis and https://cards.twitter.com/cards/18ce53z94oj/2szl4—which is why it fails.

Thank you. So if we have a link in a card we need to remove a link from the tweet text

#8

That’s right. You can only have one type of link at a time for a WEBSITE_CLICKS campaign—a card (which is associated with a URL) or a non-card URL.
