Early warning system here again:
We tried to run our quiz again today – we lowered the number of dms we sent people that had registered (instructions/tips etc) to a couple less than yesterday.
(FYI: The last couple days we’ve had 1800 to 2200 people registered for the game – our previous register number was usually around 500)
First 2 questions worked fine people saw the DM. Everything was great!
But when sending the results for the second question we started to run into problems…
Tons of empty responses coming back from the DM endpoint.
It started at 2018-11-06 20:38:29 UTC
And once it started it seem to affect everyone – regardless of whether or not they had sent us a message in the last 24 hours. As of 21:38 PST it seems to have cleared up.
What’s the intersection between elevated POST limits and the 5 DMs/per 24 hours rule that was announced in Feb 2018.
We went from 0 issues with 500 people playing on Friday to having 2000 users on Monday/Tuesday with the game being unplayable due to empty responses from Twitter.
Does an empty response from Twitter mean there is an outage? Does it happen when a rate limit we’re not aware is it? Has the 5 DMs/per 24 hours rule been changed? We’re seeing more realistically be around 7 per 24 hours w/o a message back.
Thanks for your help and advice as always @LeBraat
