Hey there, Is it possible and/or allows in ToS to use a video upload (via the Media API) in the player card?
The reason I ask is that when I attach the uploaded media to a tweet, the video is there, but I want the UX to be able to link through to more information on our site.
I’m seeing less engagement with media attached to tweets than the standard Summary card.
Thanks,
Justin
I don’t quite understand the question here.
You can, as you know, attach a video to a Tweet. That’s standard.
You’re also asking about player cards. Player cards are web metadata entities that can render a player when a link to a website is posted.
Apologies if I don’t quite follow what you are asking for, but yes you can upload video to Twitter and attach to a Tweet; or post a web link with a player card. What is your question that I am missing?
Hi,
If I attach a video via the media upload to a tweet, the video will play automatically in the timeline. If I use a player card, the video will not play automatically, but does have the cards metadata (description, title etc) These are short (6/7 second) video infographics, so the experience is to consume it as its on your timeline very quickly.
I was looking to find out if I can upload the media to my account, can I use that as the source of a Twitter player card to get the same “media upload” experience for users, but with the added metadata.
As an example, if I use the Cards designer feature of ads dot twitter dot com I can achieve this by using something in my media library that creates a Player Card.
Thanks
I understand.
You’re correct that you can attach video media directly to a Tweet. The Player card does not support the same behaviour, and simply renders a player that needs to be clicked when the URL is shared. There’s no additional functionality that is provided via the developer platform, here.
