Using a direct url link to a twitter icon image and adding the username as an argument

#1

I am trying to add a “Follow Me” icon to a signature in Gmail. This url (http://platform.twitter.com/widgets/follow_button.html?screen_name=wytchie_thyme) works perfectly if you enter it into a web browser. However, Gmail image links are “dumb” links. They want a direct link to an image such as http://www.dummycorp.com/image.jpg. Is it possible to do now or implement such a way that a link such as http://platform.twitter.com/widgets/follow_button.png?screen_name=user_name might work in such a way as to be used in “dumb” apps as signatures etc.? I can’t guarantee that even this would work, but it seems more likely to work than the current implementation.

Thanks for looking!
