/users/lookup.json doesnt need Oauth?

I am running a simple GET to https://api.twitter.com/1/users/lookup.json?screen_name=twitterscreenname&include_entities=true to get the name of the user.
And I successfully get the name too.

The page,https://dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1/get/users/lookup says, Use the OAuth tool in this page sidebar to generate the OAuth signature for this request, which means I need to have auth signature in the request.

Am I missing something?

Correct, v1’s users/lookup doesn’t require OAuth at this time. It supports it though, which is why that box is there. It’s also strongly recommended. API v1 will cease functioning in March 2013, and you’ll need to move on to using OAuth for API v1.1.
