Hello,
My access to the API was restricted a few days ago and I tried to appeal the matter. I was sent a series of questions which I answered multiple times, I will leave the answers at the end of this message, but I got no responses, all automated. Today, my developer account was restricted entirely, I can’t create any new apps and my original app has been restricted to read-only. I am not given an option to appeal this decision either.
I believe this is all due to the original restriction which was a result of an apparent violation of Twitter rules. I have read them carefully and figured that the only violation we committed was the following:
As a news aggregator, we tweet articles published by certain publications we monitor. We provide links to the articles and tag the Twitter accounts of the publications to give them credit. I believe your systems have picked up our repeated tagging of these accounts as spam behavior, even though we have good intentions behind them.
Regardless, we have now adjusted our code and no longer tag any accounts. We have not broken any other rules or exceeded any rate limits either. Our scheduled launch date is nearing, and this has already forced us to delay that. Please help us resolve this issue.
If what we think is the issue, is not the violation that we committed, please help us know where we went wrong so we can rectify the situation and continue building our product which we believe is beneficial for users on Twitter. I would appreciate a personalized response to our case as opposed to yet another automated reply.
Our elevated access application was denied as a result of this too, even though we meet the requirements. We don’t mind if you can’t give us elevated access, but please help us regain access to both the developer account and our API. This is a very urgent and crucial matter for us.
For your information, our App (Brief Is) ID is: 26482550
The answers to your previous questions regarding our use cases:
- The core use case and business purpose for our access to the Twitter API is to integrate our news aggregating service on Twitter. We monitor several publications on different topics and broadcast any relevant articles that are published. Of course, we give the publications the due credit that they deserve. We will be using the Twitter API to Tweet articles that our system picks up for our future following to see with convenience. Our news aggregator’s content will be displayed to our followers or the average Twitter user for free. We aim to grow our audience on your platform and provide a Brief of the information around us with convenience.
Please find some screenshots attached to see how our end product should look like.
-
We do not plan on analyzing any Twitter users or content. We simply broadcast content that our systems pick up, no external party or content on Twitter is analyzed. We don’t have any plans to change this principle in the future. If need be to analyze anything, we will either reach out or create a new app and specify the use case and the analysis. But it’s unlikely for us to plan to ever analyze anything on Twitter.
-
As mentioned, we will be Tweeting articles that our news aggregating service picks up. Regarding liking and Retweeting, we will only be interacting with our own content. When we Tweet out articles, our account will automatically like our own Tweet so that we are the “first like”. We do not plan on using any of these functions outside of our account or with any other Twitter users.
-
We do not under any circumstances plan on showing Twitter content outside of Twitter or aggregate Twitter data in any way. We might screenshot Tweets that we Tweet on our own account to use for marketing reasons or showcasing our Twitter account, but I don’t believe your question is regarding this sort of use case.
Please let me know if this explanation is sufficient and if you need anything else on our end.
Our access is currently blocked to the Essential access of the API too as, apparently, we have violated Twitter Rules. As I mentioned in my previous email, having read your terms, the only violation I can think of is us tagging the publications in our Tweets. Like I mentioned, we will change this and just mention their name instead of tagging their accounts that may be considered spam activity. If there is anything else that is wrong with our use case, please let us know so we can rectify the matter.
I hope that we can regain our access and resolve this matter.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Kind regards,
Arian from Brief Is
