Twttr.events.bind 'tweet' & Internet Explorer

#1

Its a well known problem and still not solved.

Web Intents Javascript Event (twttr.events.bind) ‘tweet’ STILL doesnt fire in IE - tested Versions: >= 8, in Standard Mode, clean install.
We tried everything.
-> Doesnt work.

Twitter: Where is the problem? It doesnt have to do with Doctypes, File Encoding or something like this. With or without SSL - no difference.

Code we use:

<!doctype html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<script type="text/javascript" src="inc/js/jquery-1.9.0.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<p><a href="https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?&text=Test 1">Tweet</a></p>
<script>
   twttr.ready(function(twttr) {
    twttr.events.bind('tweet', function (event) {
		alert('Yes, yes');
        console.log('TWEETED, mate');
    });
});
 </script>
</body>
</html>

Need to get this to work.

vnr18 don’t spam up threads with unrelated issues.

to the OP: I’m experiencing this same issue ; events refuse to fire in IE, ruining some website functionality

#4

Same thing on my side, events are not firing in IE. In Chrome and Firefox, it works OK. As Francesco said, where is the problem?

Thx

#5

I’m seeing the same issue; events are NOT working in IE 8, 9, and 10.

However, they do seem to work in IE11.

#6

Thanks for the reports. We’re taking a look…

@rchoi

Also I’m stuck on this problem. We have done all the tests possible without leaving it out, seems to be a bug on the API.

Is there any update to this problem?

#8

Hi everyone,

Our team says we’ve shipped all the fixes to both the XSS issue on the client-side and the IE detection on the server-side to resolve this. If there are still issues, please let me know @rchoi.

If we can get a codepen or jsfiddle example from your use cases, that would also help a ton.

Thanks!

@rchoi

the event twttr.events.bind “tweet” still does not work in IE.

#10

I am still seeing this problem. Follow and Tweet events do not fire in IE8, IE9, and IE10. http://jsfiddle.net/49gfwLah/

#11

Likewise. I see the issue in IE11

#12

Likewise. I also see the issue in IE11

#13

I also am seeing this issue in IE11

Hi
I have getting this error when getting Timeline widget in IE 10

“SCRIPT1010:Expected identifier widgets.js”

Please help me out ASAP

Thanks

#15

We are experiencing the exact same script1010:expected widgets.js issue on IE. Works fine with other browsers. Is there a resolution twitter?

Hi guys check this out:

http://php.net/manual/en/function.rawurlencode.php

as far as I know this is what you need to fix this bug on IE and twitter,
I hope this can help someone!

IE 11 the Twttr.events.bind ‘tweet’ has stopped working sometime in the last months. Previously IE 11 worked, and IE < 11 did not work. Even our test script for debugging issues with this subscribe functionality have stopped working for IE 11.

So what is going on here? Previously twitter devs said that it was the messaging not working in IE < 11. And now?

One thing I have noticed is that the twitter window no longer closes after sending the tweet and offers up a suggestion on who to follow.

TLDR;
Firefox: works
Chrome: Works
IE < 11: still broken
IE 11 : used to work, now broken
