Twitter Widget Problem- Tweets containing twitter handles are not appearing in the Twitter widget on my site

I am currently utilizing the Twitter widget on my site. When I post normal tweets, they appear in the box on my site no problem. However, if I post a tweet that contains a twitter handle in it, the tweet will simply not appear on my site, no matter how long I wait or how many times I post it. I have heard that this is a common issue with the Twitter widget. Does anybody know how I can fix this issue?

In the widgets settings page, “Exclude replies” is checked by default. If you want replies to be displayed, just uncheck it and save the changes.
