Twitter widget no longer working in a document with document-mode IE8?

I’ve seen the announcement about the discontinued support for IE7/IE8, and another thread in which the poster asked explicitely about widget support for documents running in IE7 mode. For me the situation is similar, we have pages which set document-mode to IE8 (X-UA-Compatible with content=IE8):

The other thread was answered, but only for the IE7 question. So I’m repeating the question here, for IE8: Is there any way or workaround to make this still work?

I assume the answer’s the same as in the other thread, but my boss wants me to get a confirmation black on white…

The same applies to both IE7 and IE8 as we advised back in November.

Update on Twitter for Websites IE7 and IE8 browser support

The proposal is that we’ll stop rendering widgets in IE8 at the beginning of 2015; some time in January. As above, IE8 will continue to render the links and HTML quotes that are present in your pages. No content will disappear!
