Twitter widget id not in href but do I need to have the ?ref_src= in the embedded timeline code?

With the removal of widget id’s I was looking at my code for embedded timelines, and my code does not have the widget id but when I create the code now it display ?ref_src= in the href - Is this required or can I continue without the ref_src?

href=“https://twitter.com/________?ref_src=twsrc____”>

Is the ?ref_src= required?
