I’ve noticed there’s an issue with actual widget code. It’s trying to load “file:///widgets.twimg.com/j/2/widget.css” when I’m previewing pages locally. When I upload the widget appears fine. I found a work around is to include the widget css inline to preview locally.

I too have had issues with the widget. I’ve been working on two websites locally with Dreamweaver CS5. Both sites had the widget and they were working fine until this week. One site I have not touched any code on and then when I checked this week the widget was not working.

widgets on my pages don’t work
Actualy the page http://twitter.com/about/resources/widgets/widget_search itself even doesn’t work properly for non-predefined queries.

Is there any fix for it?

I don’t know what’s going on. Im using Iweb… and I had a long time using the html code for twitter gadget on my website… days ago it stopped working… i don’t know what to do… and nobody knows about this issue…

Hi folks,

We recently made a change that requires these widgets to be loaded over a webserver (which your Dreamweavers, iWebs, and so on aren’t providing for you) – mostly to improve SSL support.

In the coming days we’ll modify this behavior back to an implementation that will still be compatible with your WYSIWYG tools. Until then, load your HTML via a web server to view the “live” content within the widgets.

I’ve uploaded a HTML file via FTP with JUST the twitter widget code in it and it’s still not even shown (just shows DIV outline). Any ideas?

I know Squat about CODE --but I Know Answer to This! Done this many times for Sidebar & widget photos, Just did it for my site’s twitter widget.

a) if no scroll bar/original design has and you want: widget too wide for (e.g., sidebar) space
b) look at html -scroll down till see: "width"
c) example: if it has “220” delete/reduce by (around) 5 until: scroll bar appears
d) e.g., on blogspot.com: widget: 220 and no scroll bar, but SAME widget: width 205 TaDa! nice big right-side scroll bar --And thin border matches other side border
If above isn’t clear/you’re not sure: copy/paste widget html directly into a fresh blank javascript gadget/widget, you’ll have duplicate; work on duplicate until achieve goal, delete original
