Twitter Video support in REST and Streaming API

I can confirm that video entities for Tweets are now available in the REST and Streaming APIs.

For instance the following REST API call for a tweet with a video doesn’t bring extended_entities - see https://api.twitter.com/1.1/statuses/show/556066244005085184.json?include_entities=true

With that particular Tweet you’ve stumbled across one that uses our promoted video formats, rather than the ones which come from the new consumer video support. In this case it refers to a video at an amp.twitter.com URL rather than the expected set of extended entities. I don’t know of any plans to change the representation of these Tweets at the current time.

I’ve just pulled the Tweet with video from @ActuallyNPH which was popular on the day we launched the feature and that shows the extended entities correctly.

I ran a test in the console with the tweet suggested (560049149836808192) and indeed I could retrieve the extended entities in this case.

This already works. There are extended entities for uploaded videos. If you ask about videos like on Vimeo or similar, you are talking about Twitter Cards and afaik there are no plans to provide the card information on the public API.

Tweets that contain Videos hosted by Twitter. Since a few weeks now it is possible to attach short Videos to Tweets. One example would be this Tweet.

I’m not seeing any extended_entities for twitter search (or streaming?) API:

https://api.twitter.com/1.1/search/tweets.json?q=%23twittervideo&include_entities=true

returns responses with no extended_entities, but if I take one of the post ids returned and grab the status by itself it’s there:

I’m also repoing what @danblaisdell mentions above: extended_entities is not returning in the REST Search API. What is the timeframe for this being enabled?

Using the REST search API and I don’t get the extended_entities in the result JSON. As mentioned above, it works if I make a API call to eg ‘statuses/show/{id}’, but it would be a bit cumbersome to do that for each tweet in the search result…

Given Twitter’s recent acquisition of Periscope, are there plans to integrate live streams into this API? I have a client that would LOVE to have live streams embedded on his page.
