I get a notification when someones mentions me on twitter.
My question is: after receiving the mention, how much time do I have to block/mute the user before getting the notification?
Is it possible in real-time to block/mute a mention after it hits the stream, and before getting a notification? Or is the intended purpose of blocking/muting to remove subsequent mentions? Thanks!
Is it the case that if a brand new account pops up, I would have to at least get one mention before being able to block/mute the account? Otherwise how would I get the account handle?
Most of the annoying bots just send me one mention, so it’s not clear how to manage block those.
Please let me know if my question is ambiguous.
Thanks!
I don’t think so - the delay in the API stream is up to 10 seconds, while notification delay is … unknown - sometimes it’s instant, sometimes it’s delayed, you’ve no control over it - each device may be different, so blocking / muting is best for subsequent mentions.
Yes, if you want, you can instead set the privacy settings to not get notifications from new accounts: https://twitter.com/settings/notifications/advanced_filters
