Twitter Login Mandatory for oauth?

Hi! I’m interested in allowing users in my app the ability to connect their Twitter account to find people they follow on Twitter that are also using my app, as a way to suggest people to follow.

One question, is it mandatory for my app to have Twitter as a form of login to access my app? We already use Firebase as a form of login and have no plans on adding an alternate form of login. I just want to make sure I’m not forced to use Twitter as a login method just to use the Twitter graph.

Any help here would be much appreciated.

Given the screen name of a public Twitter profile, you may call the friends and followers endpoints without having a user context, but you would need to use application-only authentication. If the user has a private profile, then you would need to have them sign-in to Twitter to get that information.
