When did Twitter first announce that they would be charging developers for API access?
Where do I do this? I want to make sure there is no lapse in our API usage.

This was the only announcement and details so far:

I wonder how Twitter expects companies that use the API on a daily basis to sign up for this service? It takes time to get approvals, etc. This is a bit nutty. Or shall I say a bit Musky?

Not even a free personal version?
I don’t run a business, all I use the API for is to get notified when a tweet is made by certain public interest accounts.
Damn shame and bad decision.

My guess is that it is to cut costs on Twitter’s API servers. I suspect that new paid plans such as Twitter Blue are not doing as well as hoped.
At the very least, few users will pay to use the Twitter API. Even up until now, there have been many glitches and sudden breaking changes. We can’t pay for it.
