Description of issue:
It appears within the last little bit the twitter cards are struggling to pull images for sharing cards. This works fine for other platforms but twitter specific posts seem to be having issues. See troubleshooting steps below.

URL affected (must be public):
https://jeffmillsapi.gigg.com/core/board/5e59cfa9d95477004779b159/pages/1289274772107354112?redirect=https%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A3000%2Fpreview.html%3FaccountId%3D5e59cfa9d95477004779b159%26folderId%3D7ce576b3-b052-4623-8131-22ee6b6452eb%26displayType%3DboardOne&folderId=7ce576b3-b052-4623-8131-22ee6b6452eb

I know this page is blank, but its just a test page I spun up on our api. It contains the meta tags and appropriate information.

If you take the above url and put it in the card validator tool, the card generates correctly with the image but if you share that same url on twitter, the image fails to load in. You can see this in the following screenshots.

Are you able to use an image that is not on the pbs.twimg domain?

Hey Andy,
Yes it appears to work fine if I share a post from lets say instagram to twitter.

The specific question is, does this work if the twitter:image URL is pointing to an image that is on a domain other than pbs.twimg?

As previously stated, yes it does. The issue is specific to pbs.twimg hosted images.

It appears that whatever issue was occurring has since spread to all url’s. The following screenshot shows 3 cards, the bottom 2 worked fine 2 days ago and now don’t work either with 0 changes on my part.

You still have

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EeRskQ2X0AAlezY.png

for twitter:image tags.

I think you’ll have to host the card images yourself, i don’t think pbs.twimg.com lets you hotlink like this (even from via twitter.com itself)

Hey Igor, on my actual twitter i’ve attempted with other links as well, that were working when i originally posted and no longer work now. So there is something funky going on with the sharing of cards. They also work FINE with the card validator and then fail on the actual twitter page. The card validator from my understanding should mirror what happens when you share.
