Description of issue:
When initially posting a link the twitter card shows correctly as “summary_large_image” in the timeline, but later it seems to stop working, and reverts to the small size card and displays no image.
This seems to happen with many tweets in the timeline for @watercolourarts that are using Twitter cards. In the card validator the link works correctly and displays “summary_large_image” card. It finds 14 meta tags, which is more than what is showing in the page source. Maybe it also reads the yoast schema tags. How can this problem be fixed?
URL affected (must be public):
watercolourart.com.au/melbourne/anderson-street-bridge
Troubleshooting steps:
Checked page source for twitter meta tags.
Checked robots.txt allows TwitterBot
Added specific url to validator with no errors
Card type is supported
Image conforms to size constraints
Fully qualified DNS domain name is used

Some cache system make this behavior?
Thanks.
A similar thing happens to me when viewing the timeline. Some tweets that previously show large images revert. After viewing the tweet, clicking the link and refreshing the timeline some large images return, and others revert to the small card or no card. Maybe twitter is reloading all cards from the website at the same time, and gets some timeout/rejected responses and removes the large image?
The same thing is happening to me! I’d love to figure out how we can resolve this:

I’ve just tried posting from a test account and I’m seeing a large summary card. There is a good chance that timeouts would cause the card to show “no” image and switch the card to the smaller format; if that happens then the crawler should re-check in around 7 days and refresh the image and card.
