Twitter Card summaries that include apostrophe's add backslash for some reason

Here’s an example Tweet with Twitter Cards enabled and this problem: https://twitter.com/JohnRMeese/status/431424627978801152

The end of the summary is supposed to read, “…and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Our […]”

However, as I see it it reads, “…and we wouldn’t have it any other way… Our […]”

Does anyone know why this backslash appears and how to rectify this? I’ve seen it on other Twitter Cards of mine, too.

The backslashes are being printed in your page source and therefore end up in the card. Have you added the meta tags manually or are you using the Wordpress plugin?

Thank you for responding, I apparently wasn’t subscribed to this thread and so I just searched for it again.

I’m using a Wordpress plugin called “Twitter Cards Meta.” I’ll see if using a different plugin would help.

Yup, that was the problem! I switched to the Yoast Wordpress SEO plugin, and that appears to have fixed the issue.
