Ah, I see. Before your card can be used, you need to submit it for approval. To do that, go to the card validator (https://dev.twitter.com/docs/cards/validation/validator), click your card type (summary with large image), click the “Validate & Apply” tab and paste one of your URLs (e.g. http://blog.snapkitchen.com/healthy-spring-meals/). Click the “Request Approval” button that appears and when you receive a message that your card has been approved, you should be good to go.

After asking around, it sounds like this could be caused by your example URL not matching the “Website Domain” in the approval form. Are you changing this to something other than “blog.snapkitchen.com?” If so, try leaving it as is. The other possible scenario for the error is attempting to register a sub-domain when the domain is already registered, but I do not see any cards for snapkitchen.com.

I had the same error and put the code meta name=“twitter:domain” content="" into my header code and replaced the content= with my domain name and it worked.

Make sure you put the code in between < > The code didn’t show up when I put it in the comment . . . lol

Hello @jbulava, having the same problem. I recently whitelisted *.ondeckdigital.com and created a subdomian, share.ondeckdigital.com which I thought would be whitelisted but when I check the card validator and request whitelisting I get this error:
*.share.ondeckdigital.com whitelist request failed
ERROR: Invalid domain pattern
Can you assist please? Is the an error in my tags?

Your assumption is correct; if Cards were validated for http://ondeckdigital.com, then they should also work on http://share.ondeckdigital.com. Make sure that you are validating with a full working URL, not “*.share.ondeckdigital.com.” Feel free to provide an example that may not be working so I can help further.

Hi @millerostock, your twitter:domain tag is currently set to a title, but it should be a URL. You can either remove the tag altogether and change it from this:

<meta name="twitter:domain" content="Wear About Style"/>

to this:

<meta name="twitter:domain" content="blog.millerostock.com"/>

No worries! These are the HTML meta tags in your page source for any blog post. It looks like you are using Yoast to create Twitter Cards, correct? I’m not familiar with this system, but I would think there would be a “domain” field in their settings for Cards. Take a look around for that. Sorry I cannot be more helpful; you may need to reach out to the Yoast support team if that doesn’t work!

Thank you for the response. Here is an example url that is working (the card is retrieved in the preview) but the validator says is not whitelisted: http://share.ondeckdigital.com/k-classic/995. I tried to request approval using this URL and it gave me the invalid domain pattern error.

Hi there, we’re having the same issues on http://fr.kijijiblog.ca. The Twitter card is previewing, the twitter:domain is set to fr.kijijiblog.ca, and we’re getting the following message:

*.fr.kijijiblog.ca whitelist request failed
ERROR: Invalid domain pattern

We’ve done this before with other sites, so I’m not sure where the issue is. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
