Twitter buzz analysis per keyword

I want to know on a daily basis per defined keyword how many times it got mentioned on twitter and the number of followers that Twitter user has.
Preferably per API which will be used in Excel to analyse on.
Is this possible? Is there a step by step manual?

There are no simple public API solutions to this.
