Twitter API returns Twitter::Error::Unauthorized if a tweet contains a star symbol (*)

It appears that the twitter rest API does not like this pattern (84*60 CM). Perhaps * character it tripping it. Anyway, the following tweet resulted in Twitter::Error::Unauthorized

Once I removed the star character from the tweet it worked fine.

The Twitter API certainly accepts * in tweet text. Authorization errors happening for specific characters is almost always caused by client libraries incorrectly generating OAuth signatures. What Twitter library are you using? Or did you implement OAuth yourself?

You might be right, it is unlikely to be a Twitter issue. I am making the requests via this rails library - https://github.com/sferik/twitter. I am going to look through the code to see if the Rails library makes any changes to the post request.
