Hello
i am using several 3rd party tools to track followers/unfollowers but since a few days
its showing incorrect results. People who seemingly unfollowed me are still following me and vice versa. This cause a real distraction and confusion, why does twitter not even inform people about this. I know people losing 300 -400 followers a days, caused by this behaviour.

Since 18, May we detect some incorrect data provided by Twitter API. Please double check before unfollow/following people. Hopefully Twitter will fix it soon.

Furthermore an app which post the name and artists of the current track in 3 minute intervals for my webradio get suspended 2 times in 24 hours.

Whats wrong with twitter ?

Greetings

I would not rely on 3rd party tools to figure out who follows / unfollows - as far as i know the standard endpoints for this do not return “wrong” information, but can sometimes be delayed - eg: if someone only recently follows or unfollows it may not appear for a few minutes due to caching GET followers/ids | Docs | Twitter Developer Platform

This is likely due to anti spam measures flagging it - your tweets look very spammy and are very repetitive.

There is no point in mentioning @twitter in every tweet, also including the same url in every tweet is not helpful, there are too many flag and other emoji making the tweets hard to read, and the tweets themselves are not very helpful or informative. If your tweets included something useful, like: 1 link to the actual artist / song, or link to the radio show rather than the main station all the time it could be better. An ever better thing to do would be to only tweet once per radio show start / finish with a link to the playlist.

Hey there
there are dozents of paid and free apps offering this service, so when twitter returns inaccurate information thats not my fault or ?

Your definition of spammy seems to be different and my tweets are of course helpful because people who like/retweet follow each other so thats the way you generate followers, there are a lot of people doing it that way.

For example:
https://twitter.com/ItsFamousJoe
https://twitter.com/TrickFHelp
https://twitter.com/PitbullPapito

All my tweets pointing to my radio station, what else.
But i wasnt looking for advice ,i was looking for an answer why twitter returns wrong API information, which caused an outrage in the past days, people losing up to 400 followers a day.

All of those examples are examples of poor ways of using twitter - i’d recommend looking at how these account do it instead:

https://twitter.com/boilerroomtv

https://twitter.com/Radiooooo_com

or a smaller channel: https://twitter.com/Electronic_Gems (there the via @youtube thing is still repetitive and unnecessary but still not that bad for duplicate content filters.)

There’s more stuff on https://media.twitter.com/en_us/entertainment.html?role=music there’s a bunch of useful advice there too

All these examples are exellent examples of how to quickly generate followers and the likes and retweets confirms that am right. I dont wanna argue with you about how to use my twitter and i dont need your advice, i just need to know why twitters API gives out wrong information about who unfollowed me and followed me.

Thanks

Oh, as for lost followers - when accounts get locked or suspended for spammy behaviour they will be removed from your followers list too as far as i know: Twitter axes locked or suspended accounts from follower counts | Twitter | The Guardian this has been the case for a while - i assume they’re “processed” in batches over time, giving you these sudden drops you see in numbers.

There are also eventual consistency issues: when large numbers of follows / unfollows happen to any account, there may be some time between the API and web interface catching up with the actual counts - sometimes you can’t see changes right away due to caching or other things like that.

Most of these people listed as " unfollowers" still following me and this cause a lot of confusion in the twitter community, because a lot of people block you when you unfollow them. There are bots out there that follow you and unfollow you 12 hours later. So i need to check manualy if a person still follow me or unfollowed me,but when you reach an higher ammount of followers this is a fulltime job.

Thanks

Completely agree with every comment and response @IgorBrigadir has posted above. There are no known issues with the friends and followers endpoints or user objects at this time. These are likely caching and eventual consistency issues, and we do not provide any guarantee of service for third party applications using the standard APIs.
