Dear Twitter team,
I’m sorry to post this here but I haven’t be able to get a response so I am posting this message here. I have already filled out the Twitter Support form regarding appealing / explaining my usage of the twitter API.
My situation is as follows - I created a twitter application / app using the twitter developer portal and generated the necessary API Keys and Consumer Keys and sent a few tweets to my own twitter account. My twitter API tweets are messages to my user-base regarding updates on various trading strategies I employ in crypto and other markets. I am not doing anything else, nor am I tweeting or doing actions on other twitter users / handles.
My application was suspended and I am unsure how to proceed. I’d like to resolve any issues to get my application approved so that I can continue using the Twitter API. None of the Twitter API policies apply to me because I am not in breach of those policies. I am merely trying to create an auto update to my user-base sporadically using the Twitter API.
Please let me know how I can move forward on this.
Thanks for your time,
Mahavira
I am not part of the Twitter team, but looking at your bot’s tweets, you are definitely in breach of the policies imo. The Automation Rules state this:
"Spamming: You may not send automated Tweets or Direct Messages that are spam, or otherwise engage in spamming activity. Some examples of spammy behavior to avoid with automation include:
-
Trending topics: You may not automatically post about trending topics on Twitter, or use automation to attempt to influence or manipulate trending topics."
Your automated tweets all contain a bunch of popular crypto hashtags, which is almost certain to get your app suspended. That is in combination with the relatively suspect nature of most crypto accounts from an automation perspective (yours included). What I mean by that is:
Unlike a lot of other social media accounts, crypto accounts tend to be completely one-dimensional in their content: their entire identity and the sum of all their tweets is about nothing but crypto and how to gain from it, devoid of any other personality, which is not what ordinary social media accounts look like (even business ones). Such a pattern looks remarkably similar - from an automation perspective - to the kind of misinformation bots that try to spread falsehoods, something that social media sites are currently on very high alert for.
I also note that your account barely has any activity - tweeting or otherwise - except for the last six days, which represents a big change in behaviour for the account overall (and is thus more likely to be seen as suspicious, in my opinion).
All of that being said, I recommmend that you avoid hashtags in your tweets. While “#MagaviraAlgoBot” is obviously not a highly-used hashtag, posting it on every tweet (or every tweet of a particular topic from your account) will look to Twitter as though you are trying to use automation to influence conversation on that topic.

Thanks for your insight. I will remove all hashtags if that’s the issue. I’m not spamming or trying to influence anything. I’m merely trying to post updates on my own account. I don’t see how that constitutes some sort of suspension.
I await the response from the twitter developer team.
