As of May 5, we will officially update our Ads API tier names. This is only a cosmetic change. That is, tier functionality will not change or be affected.

We are changing the tier names from Developer and Standard, to Limited and Advanced, respectively. See below:

Background

Over the past few years, our team has received feedback around how our old tier names could be misconstrued.

We understood that the definition of each tier was not always clear. We also realized that we needed to improve clarity between Twitter Ads API developer tiers and Twitter API (non-ads) developer tiers.

With that, we went through a process to identify new names that would help make our Ads API tiers clear and defined.

Ads API Tier offerings

As mentioned, what each tier offers will not change. Here are the tiers below:

  • “Developer” will become “Limited” (5-15 tokens)
    • Initially you are granted “Developer” access to the Ads API with an initial limit of five Twitter users who can use your app. Once your integration is complete, you can increase your token limit to 15 by booking a meeting at t.co/meeting to demo the integration for review.
  • “Standard” will become “Advanced” (Unlimited tokens)
    • Advanced access indicates your concept has been proven through live pilot campaigns. OAuth token limits are lifted on the developer App to allow your business to scale.
    • To upgrade to Advanced access, two customer testimonials showing how your platform delivers value with Twitter is required. A quote, person’s name, company name, title, and email are to be provided. Once accepted and approved, you will be upgraded to Standard access, granting your developer App an unlimited OAuth token limit.

Moving forward

There is no action required as part of this change. There will also be no impact to your current workstreams.
