Tweets with Emoji characters no longer working in iOS6 "Tweet Sheet"

I am using the native iOS6 “Tweet Sheet” SLComposeViewController

If my Tweet has Emoji characters in it the Tweet will fail. This has just started happening in the last few days. Around the time of the API 1.0 blackout?
