Tweet Counter and content behind a paywall

Hello,

It appears the Tweet counter does not work when content is behind a paywall.

For example this article:

Journalist Q&A: Kara Swisher, All Things D

Kara Swisher, co-executive editor of All Things D, talks to Beth Krietsch about her passion for technology, the unique aspects of working for an online outlet, and the need for speed.

redirects to a login/paywall page if you are not a subscriber. However, if you login in a tweet the story that seems to work, but the count does not get updated to reflect the Tweet. Is there some sort of configuration change we need to make?

Yeah, Twitter’s crawler follows redirects. Since the article redirects via a 302 to http://www.prweekus.com/pages/login.aspx?returl=/journalist-qa-kara-swisher-all-things-d/article/214777/&pagetypeid=28&articleid=214777&accesslevel=2&expireddays=0&accessAndPrice=0 that is the URL which will be incremented when the original URL is Tweeted. (I see this URL actually has a count of 10)

One option would be to not redirect to the login page (just render a login prompt) so that the page results in a 200. Another would be to detect Twitter’s crawler (via user agent, should be visible in your logs) and render a 200 response.
