Tweet count API over HTTPS

#1

We’re trying to use the tweet button “API” http://urls.api.twitter.com/1/urls/count.json in HTTPS pages but https://urls.api.twitter.com/1/urls/count.json returns an Akamai certificate, not a Twitter one, so the browser shows a certificate error.

Thanks…

That API endpoint is not for use outside of contexts where Twitter-authored code makes use of it. Please don’t use private API methods.

Is there a public API for getting tweet count for a given URL ?

#4

There is not – at this time you’d need to use the streaming API to count them yourself as they happen in real time.

#5

@episod, sorry to double post but I do not find an example of this. The REST API V1 will stop working soon. Could you provide a working example using REST API V1.1 or an alternative to retrieve the count for a given URL?

#6

Has this been addressed/resolved? I can’t imagine that a public api call for this does not exist.
