Tweet Button and 280 character limit (is still limited to 140)

Hi,

the Tweet Button: https://dev.twitter.com/web/tweet-button still limits input to 140 characters.

Will this limit be updated to 280 characters or stay at 140?
If it will be raised to 280 characters - when can we expect that to happen?

Also Web Intents are limited to 140. As the maintainer of a popular open source Twitter plugin for WordPress, this has already been requested.

I’d love to be able to add this for my users.

Hello! Thank you bringing this to our attention! We are aware of this problem, and will be supporting 280 in web intents in the upcoming release. I’ll post an update here when it is released.

Was just coming here to share that while web intents look like they don’t support 280 characters, if you click “Tweet” the Tweet will actually get published even though the counter displays a negative character count in red.

See attached - I was able to successfully post this tweet via web intents.
