To be nice about it, the new widgets are a disappointment

I realize that the new widgets are created to give Twitter more control over their image. But, I think the control freak who came up with this idea is going to regret it. If web site creators cannot use these widgets to enhance the sites they build, they will not use them. And may that’s why this is being done. These new widgets are not moving forward along with current design practices and capabilities. Rather, they are moving backwards. They are not responsive, lack options, and are visually and functionally unappealing. If Twitter is trying to reduce bandwidth costs, I’m sure Twitter will succeed.
