Hi,

Since 2022-06-30T18:00 UTC, I have been getting frequent timeout errors on many APIs. There is nothing on the status page https://api.twitterstat.us/ .

As far as I know, some of the APIs that are influenced by this incident are the below.

  • Sign up/in
  • user
  • friend_ids
  • follower_ids
  • direct_message events
  • Twitter web pages
  • and much more

I hope this will be resolved.

Is this incident limited to East Asia (Japan)?

I have the same error too, from japan.
Timeout error has been occurred, when I access to api.twitter.com:443.

There are several endpoints affected.

  • statuses/lookup
  • followers/ids
  • account/verify_credentials
  • statuses/user_timeline
  • users/show
    etc

I have the same issue in japan.

In my environment, turning off Wi-Fi and using a mobile connection resolves the issue.

According to reports from users of my app, some are able to use it even on Wi-Fi and some are not able to use it even on a mobile connection.

Does anyone know what caused the Twitter failure this morning?

@IgorBrigadir @andypiper If you know something, could you please tell me it? The area that were affected by this incident was pretty big and it was featured in the news of some web media in Japan.

Based on the descriptions, this would have been something that was at a network level, but beyond the external channels related to the Twitter app and service status, we’re not able to provide further details.

We’re sorry that you and your users were affected by any kind of outage. I’m glad to read that services were restored relatively quickly.
