Survey on use and non-use of Twitter

Dear all,

I am Yong Kwang and I am a current postgraduate student at Nanyang Technological University, Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information.

As part of my Master of Science programme at the Nanyang Technological University, I am conducting an empirical study on the use and non-use of Twitter through an online survey. The survey is expected to take up 5 minutes of your time, and I hope that you would kindly agree to participate in the survey and contribute data to the research.

Your participation is important and greatly appreciated because it will contribute to understanding within the academic community on why Internet users use or do not use Twitter.

I would also like to address privacy concerns that you may have. All information provided will be treated with the strictest confidentiality and the questions that will be asked have been vetted by the University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB)[1] to ensure compliance with research ethical guidelines and requirements. Furthermore, your anonymity is guaranteed through 2 ways. Firstly, there is no question in the survey questionnaire to elicit personal information or on your identity to allow researchers to identify you. Secondly, data analysis and findings will be based on aggregated and summarized data.

Lastly, the survey can be accessed at Thank you and I look forward to your participation.
