I’m not sure how i got the wrong code as i just went to the twitter help page and cut and pasted the code provided - the fact is i really don’t have much of a clue about this stuff so its not surprising i went wrong!

anyway, thanks so much for your advice - i went to the link you provided, installed the code, and now have a working twitter follow button - wohooo!

What is platform.twitter.com? This morning I keep getting a warning that my browser can’t find the certificate or some such. But I didn’t go to twitter, I get the warning when I am on other sites. So far I have cancelled every time, but should I worry about this?

platform.twitter.com is where we host widgets for other websites. if you are visiting a website that has a tweet button or follow button, you will fetch resources from that url. there shouldn’t be any certificate errors though. Could you provide an example page that you saw this on? I can definitely take a look.

hi Daniela, is this your website? if not, where did you find that url.
That url is no longer supported, you’ll note that if you try:

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets/follow_button.html?screen_name=ElUniversal&button=blue&id=twitter_tweet_button_0&lang=es&show_count=false

it should work correctly (platform.twitter vs platform0.twitter)

How long has platform0.twitter.com not been supported for? Just wanted to get a handle on how long this may have been occurring on one of our network sites.

platform{0,1,2,3} have never been officially supported URL endpoints. While our widgets may have pointed to those resources, the only officially support SSL safe urls were on platform.twitter.com

Given that, I can’t give you an exact timeframe of how long there may have been SSL issues if you were hotlinking to platform0.
