Sharepoint 2010 & Twitter Widget

#1

Hello,
We have a Twitter widget for our Twitter feed to appear on our Sharepoint 2010 Website using this code:

<a class="twitter-timeline" href="https://twitter.com/MedicalArch" data-widget-id="347664093089509376">Tweets by @MedicalArch</a> <script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=/^http:/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+"://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");</script>

It works fine with Firefox and Chrome but doesnt in Internet Explorer? Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Thanks,
Ian

Yes, you can embed a Twitter timeline using HTML generated on Twitter.com.
https://twitter.com/settings/widgets/new/user

Both the <a> and the <script> components of the copy-and-pasted HTML markup will need to load on the page for a fully-rendered embedded Timeline to appear. The widgets JavaScript supports Internet Explorer version 9 and greater.

Unfortunately Sharepoint 2010 appears to default to IE 8 document mode (even in newer versions of IE), while the Twitter web widgets now support IE 9 and upwards as @niall says. You can fix that using one of the solutions from this thread (including DOCTYPE html or removing X-UA-Compatible) but this may not be a solution if your site depends on backwards compatibility to IE 8 level.
