Hi,

I am a phd student interested in using twitter data, however I have not yet applied for access to the api so bear with me. If I’m not mistaken it is not possible to identify deleted tweets, however it is possible to identify reply tweets and quote tweets of a given tweet. Does anyone know whether it is possible to see reply tweets and quote tweets of deleted tweets? The goal is to identify tweets that are controversial where I would classify a tweet as controversial if it is a) deleted, b) people show their dissent in the quote tweets and reply tweets of the deleted tweet.

Yes, it’s still possible to get quote tweets and replies of deleted tweets, but not retweets

Thank you! Do you know if the deleted tweet still has an ID (Conversation ID?) such that I know whether two different reply tweets are responses to the same tweet?

Yes, the IDs will still be referenced by other tweets but you won’t be able to get anything about them
