Search widget problem

#1

Hi. I’m using the search widget on a site Ive developed and it’s been working fine for weeks pulling in only tweets with a specific hashtag. Yesterday it started pulling in random tweets unrelated to the search query. Anybody have any idea why this is happening?

#2

Same problem … The api started to pull random tweets unrelated with search query. I have checked it on the api site demo too. It is the same. But if I delete a word from my query it is pulling the right tweets. After that starting unrelated tweets again…

#3

Hi Can & Awesome Button,

Can you provide examples of the queries you used that returned these seemingly unrelated results? Were the unrelated results containing URLs? Are you requesting result_type=popular or result_type=mixed or result_type=recent?

I got the same problem for a week now…

We are using the search widget on out site with one term “hldecrypt”… it’s been pulling in random stuff for a week. If I change the case of the search term (ie “HLDecrypt”) it loses the extra tweets for a few hours then they come back. Here’s the code…

new TWTR.Widget({
version: 2,
type: ‘search’,
search: ‘HLDecrypt’,
interval: 6000,
title: ‘’,
subject: ‘’,
width: 390,
height: 320,
theme: {
shell: {
background: ‘none’,
color: ‘#ffffff
},
tweets: {
background: ‘none’,
color: ‘#FFFFFF’,
links: ‘#BC9220
}
},
features: {
scrollbar: true,
loop: true,
live: true,
hashtags: false,
timestamp: true,
avatars: true,
toptweets: false,
behavior: ‘default’
}
}).render().start();

I had a related problem, May have fixed it when i changed http to https
when calling https://platform.twitter.com/anywhere.js

We’re investigating this circumstance of irrelevant results occasionally mixing in with search results. No ETA at the moment, but it is indeed being looked at.

Thanks.

We have been running into the same issue for a number of weeks now. It used to occur at all different hours of the day, then fix itself later on. Now it only seems to be happening around 9:00pm EST. The next time I looked at it which was around 8:30am EST the following day, it was back to normal. Hope that helps.

#9

We experience this issue for some weeks now on several websites, where other sites are working OK… (same settings - just a different search query).

Any news on this issue?

#10

After reading this article http://techcrunch.com/2009/04/26/here-comes-twitter-spam-and-how-to-fight-it/

I changed my query from ‘@teknologidagene OR #teknologidagene OR teknologidagene’’ to just ‘teknologidagene’ and that seems (for now) to have stopped the spam tweets.

#11

We’re still working on it; I’ll check with the team on an ETA.

#12

Fix is still a few weeks out; if you discover alternate query forms that mitigate the issue for you in the meantime, I recommend exploring them.

I have similar issue works on one website (different user) but not on 2 others using the same exact code just a different search parameters (user id) with hashtag

					<script>
                    new TWTR.Widget({
                      version: 2,
                      type: 'search',
                      search: '#news from:userid',
					  rpp: 3,
                      interval: 6000,
                      width: 340,
                      height: 180,
                      theme: {
                        shell: {
                          background: '#ffffff',
                          color: '#000033'
                        },
                        tweets: {
                          background: '#ffffff',
                          color: '#000033',
                          links: '#bf3131'
                        }
                      },
                      features: {
                        scrollbar: true,
                        loop: false,
                        live: true,
                        hashtags: true,
                        timestamp: true,
                        avatars: false,
                        toptweets: false,
                        behavior: 'all'
                      }
                    }).render().start();
                    </script>

I got the search widget on www.eijv.nl an have the same issue, no results on search string, but by clicking on join the conversation it will give results.
search string is: “edese ijsvereniging” OR #eijv OR @eijv

#15

Seems to be a difference between top/all tweets. The search widget takes the top tweet functionality i assume. This give less results.
All https://twitter.com/#!/search/Eijv
Top https://twitter.com/#!/Eijv

#16

In addition to last reaction. It should be:
Top: . https://twitter.com/#!/search/Eijv
All: https://twitter.com/#!/search/realtime/Eijv

#17

My tweets are not appearing for last one week. My complete code is given below. Please help.
