When working with the Streaming APIs, matching Tweets are sent in real-time when posted, which is why you can expect Retweets and Favorites counts equal to zero. The case you can expect non-zero counts is for newly created Retweets by looking inside the original Tweet object, nested in “retweeted_status”.
