REST API Direct Message character limit less than 10'000 characters

Hi Everyone,

I have been using the REST API to post some sample text (plain text, no special characters) which is 5559 characters long. When I send a request to POST direct_messages/new, I just get a response of Bad Request. My text was sent in the request body for the text parameter and the POST is successful when I reduce the amount of sample text. I wasn’t expecting this as the DM character limit was increased to 10000. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Hi Mark,

I’ve also noticed that character limit is less than 10’000 characters. The same response - bad request. That’s strange.
Did you send this message as a request url parameter as the REST API documentation states?
I’ve managed to post only 6867 “a” letters in one direct message…
