Rampaging script in web widget

I get randomly empty Tabs in Firefox. https://platform.twitter.com/jot.html
How can I stop this rampaging script without programming the Adblocker for all Programms that can show Webpages?
Because that is happening with every programm that can view webpages such as thunderbird, Opera, Vivaldi, Chromium, Links, w3m and so on it is very annoying.

Hi JPRuehmann! Sorry to hear about the issue. That little jot.html is our embed log helper, and it’s not supposed to randomly open tabs. Can you show us which webpage you are looking at, and what code snippet you used, so we can reproduce?

I am using the following snippet on my Homepage jpruehmann.dnshome.de <a class="twitter-timeline" data-height="540" data-theme="dark" data-width="270" href="https://twitter.com/JPRuehmann">Tweets by JPRuehmann</a> <script async="async" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> but I am not sure that this is the Problem because it happens still when my Homepage is not open.

Just to clarify, are you using any plugins that are preventing redirects? Your embed code looks fine, but I couldn’t reproduce your issue. On the contrary, I saw your profile timeline embed successfully rendered in Firefox, Chrome, Chromium, Opera and Vivaldi.

not that I know.
the Timeline gets rendered without problems, but randomly from time to time an empty page gets opened in my default browser whichever it is. this is happening between 2 and 20times a day.

I still couldn’t reproduce the issue in my latest Chromium, Opera, Vivaldi, Chrome and Firefox on Mac, where timeline renders but new empty tabs are opening. I also tested a IE and Opera on Windows for the latest two versions, and no empty tabs were open.

Can you share which browser and OS versions you are using? I’d also suggest that you disable all your browser extensions to see if the problem still persists. Since I haven’t seen other reports nor could reproduce this issue, it may very likely be something very specific to your browser/OS environment.

This is really interesting, thanks for the report. I'm not sure if it's something I can directly fix, as it's quite dependent on the browser-like environment Thunderbird is providing. I'll see if I can work out a bug report for the Thunderbird developers though. (What's happening is there's actually a POST request made to jot when Tweet Embeds are initialized, and Thunderbird is throwing that into a new browser window rather than it happening inline, despite having allowed the frame to be crea…

The post you referenced was from 4 years ago, and it was very specifically about Thunderbird rendering RSS feed in an email client. Sorry that we can’t help you further, since we simply can’t reproduce this issue in any browser. I would still recommend that you try disabling your browser plugins, and revert your browser setting to default to see if the problem still persists. Then you can use a process of elimination to isolate which browser setting or plugin that interferes with the redirects.
