Dear Twitter Developer admin,

Hello, this is youngin who contacted with you guys about approving my request to use twitter api for recsys challenge 2021.

I really glad to be approved in fast way.

And I have a one more question about recsys challenge 2021. I hope get right answer about my question below. If you could not reply it, can you give another contact for inquirying?

The question is

When I access Download data page at recsys-twitter, I saw the alert like

“Your Twitter Developer API registration has not yet been approved/you have not applied for it. You will be able to enter a submission once this is done.”

There was FAQ about this problem in same page. It said like below.

These applications are reviewed by agents and, as such, any bot-like indicators will lead to rejection of your application. Preferably use your academic institution email address, if you have one. Fill in the fields responsibly and clarify in your use case that you intend to participate in this challenge.

Even though I followed guideline that makes API key and writes what API for, my friends and I got same message.

How could we resolve this case? I think **there are people who have suffered same case with us.**However, nobody contained with recsys-twitter admin haven’t answered in Forum by Google group.

I think you guys need to reply those as well!!!

Yeah - i think the issue is that initially Recsys Challenge download permissions were manually approved, not automatically approved if you have a developer account. I remember getting the data last year when it started.

If you have been approved for a developer account, you should have access to https://developer.twitter.com/en/portal/dashboard sounds like you don’t have this problem.

Unfortunately it seems that https://recsys-twitter.com/data/show-downloads this is broken on Twitter’s end somehow. I also have an active developer account, and was previously approved to download the recsys challenge 2020 data, but now the new Twitter Login thing they have doesn’t seem to recognize this, and also tells me

" Your Twitter Developer API registration has not yet been approved/you have not applied for it"

So it’s not just you.

you mean we could get data download permission if we get approved developer account right??

Then I already got that today from developer portal admin.

And Is it technical issue what I couldn’t access data with previous clause what I said?? like your saying.

Then When it will gonna resolve?

cuz the compeition schedule said it already began Early March 2021. And isn’t it begun due to that issue yet???

I don’t know who at twitter is responsible for the thing, so i don’t know! Hopefully they fix it soon.

Just to follow up: I got an email notification, and I tried it again - had to log out, and log back in and now Downloads works for me!

I’ll figure out it, anyway thanks to your continuous reaction about my question!!

The email i got came from recsyschallenge2021@gmail.com in case that matters. I think since you already have a developer account, it may be a case of waiting a bit and then logging out and logging back in again too.
