Private Group messaging API available?

There was an announcement a couple of weeks ago about Twitter Private Group Messaging tool. Will there be an API for this? If so what is the expected release date?

Group DM support via the APIs?

At the present time we don’t have anything to announce on access to the group DM feature via an API. This is a brand new feature for us and right now we can’t provide any timeline for API support.
