Hello,
I am trying to upgrade my API subscription to query the full archive to a premium account, but I keep getting an error message upon confirming my payment:
“”"
Failed to update subscription.
Please try again, or contact support if the problem persists.

Can somebody explain the error to me?
I use Twitter for academic research. For a different project I have a developer account with paid premium access, but due to different project funding I can’t use the same account for different research. Is this the reason that I cannot have two separate premium accounts?

Thanks!

Koen

Thanks for reaching out, the best place to go is to email dev-billing@twitter.com for support on this issue.

Thanks!

Thank you for your quick response. I did e-mail them asking about this yesterday. I was hoping to find out what I was doing wrong as soon as possible, due to some grant deadlines.
I also don’t wan to risk violating any policies of Twitter as I think Twitter data could provide an extremely valuable addition to our research efforts.
Can I have multiple developer accounts for different research projects?

I can’t speak with any authority here but as far as i know, different use cases using different apps from the same Twitter developer account is fine, but making multiple developer accounts is not. I also don’t know anything about the payments for premium, but i know that you can switch environments to a different application if you need - but your calls are shared across all your apps, so your payment card and calls are tied to your developer account, not the app.

I usually make a new app for a new research project - and work on one at a time when using premium, since gathering historical data is usually a once off process.

Thanks Igor, Yes that is kind of my problem. As I have been working on different research proposals at the same time I created two separate developer accounts. I used all my credits for one research proposal. Now I am working on a different research proposal paid for from a different funding source, that is why I had to create a new dev account to have separate billings. I just can’t figure out if that is against the rules
