Permission for using twitter

Dear sir/madam

I’m Hamid Baghernia, student of Multimedia University, Malaysia, working on a research about analyzing an event based on its tweets.

I’d like to know what permission should I seek for using the tweets in an application?
Am I allowed to search for all the public tweets, the followers and followee of a Twitter user, and searching for the depth of retweets?
